At the Chair of Public Economics we investigate how national governments decide on public spending and taxation policies, how the public sector is organised, and how national governments act in an international setting. In recent years, rapid changes due to globalisation and the emergence of digital technologies have intensified the relevance of these issues. In the light of these developments, the chair focuses on theoretical and empirical research in the areas of:
- international corporate taxation
- fiscal federalism
- the public economics of digitisation
Our research strategy comprises normative as well as political-economy analyses.
